New Zealander Maurice Hayman has been selected for his Albion debut in a much-changed Team, caused by a spate of injuries during the Christmas period.

Prop Forward Hayman made a good impression last week playing for the United and is a player of considerable experience, but his promotion has been hastened by the unavailability of regular Props Nick Southern and Dave Mayer – both out injured.

The New Zealander is “globetrotting” with another Kiwi, George Coffey, and intends to stay at Plymouth until the end of the season. Hayman and Coffey, a Flanker, have both played for Taranaki Province and are Members of the Okaiawa Club in North Island New Zealand.

Beside Southern and Mayer being injured, Centre Richard Friend, poisoned hand, and Barrie Attis, torn Knee Ligaments, will also be missing from the starting 15.

Albion raced past 500 points for the Season, with a comfortable win in the mud at Weston by two goals, two tries and a penalty goal to nil.

Albion made excellent use of the good ball their forwards won consistently, and they ran with purpose despite adverse conditions.

Outstanding for Albion were Scrum Half Nick Vosper and Fly Half Malcolm Shillabeer who converted the good work of the Pack into a succession of chances for the threequarters. Three of the four tries were scored by the Wingers, a clear indication of the way Albion moved the Ball about. Dave Westlake crossed for two tries, Roger Morrish on the other Wing and Flanker Chris Martin got one each. Vosper kicked a Penalty Goal and made two Conversions, leaving the final score Weston 0-23 Albion.
